LaShawn Brown is a licensed occupational therapist and the heart behind Little Brown Bear Center. With over 25 years of clinical experience — first licensed in Maryland in 1996 and now practicing in Virginia — LaShawn has spent her career helping children build the foundational skills they need to thrive.

That clinical background shapes everything about how Little Brown Bear Center runs. LaShawn has a special passion for supporting children with unique needs, including those born prematurely, navigating developmental delays, working through feeding challenges or sensory sensitivities, and managing birth-related conditions. She brings the same expert eye to every child in her care, whether they need extra support or are simply growing at their own pace.

Little Brown Bear Center is LaShawn’s answer to a simple question: what would daycare look like if it were run by someone who truly understands child development? The result is a warm, home-based environment where meals, play, and daily routines are all designed with intention — supported by the “Operation Ready by 3” approach and, when needed, private speech therapy right on site.

LaShawn is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and holds a Family Day Home License to care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
